The Ultimate Price
I search the most desolate cocktail lounges for you.
I sit beside your other lovers
In the land of the long gone—
All of us waiting for the chance
To be loved by you.
You enter into me like a fiery lover
And leave me freezing
In cities I do not know.
I awaken with headaches and stomach pains,
With blurred vision and vomiting spells
That last all day.
Your appeal burns inside my core,
Envelops me
With the promise of a warm emotional bath.
I turn to you for comfort and shelter
And end up sick and homeless
EVERY TIME!
Even when I swore
It would not happen again.
Because “just one” will not do;
I am an all-or-nothing girl when it comes to love,
Paying the ultimate price for you.
