On this day
On this rainy flat-tired 9/11 day
My shoes are open
which makes me feel vulnerable
My shoulders are chilled
Yesterday they sold me a tire
It's flat today because I'm a woman
I explained it all in Spanish
because I don't know what I am
I crept along on 3 tires and a rim
looking for salvation on 4th avenue
6 years have passed since
a day began in blue perfection
I woke up dancing today then
remembered remembered remembered
How dare I dance
How dare I live
How dare I bitch about rain and flat tires
20 years ago my nephew fell out the window
It was a 9/11 sun beaming dreaming day
I couldn't figure out why the world was still there
We wandered dazed through bright streets
Cried on broken playground benches
People passed by and they were still alive
and20I couldn't figure out why the sun still shone
6 years have passed since 911
I was talking in Spanish about tires
while my friend's name was called out
My car was filled with artwork
A broken frame cut my hand
I left 3 drops of blood on 4th avenue
One for larry one for baby noel one for me
Rainy flat-tired 911 day
Danceless, I went back to work
